Chico Trujillo, Chilean Party Band, Making Miami Debut at PAX on June 13
![]() |
In 1999, members of Chilean ska group La Floripondio started Chico Trujillo as a side project. And twelve years later, this band is finally making the trek to Miami for a gig at PAX on Wednesday, June 13.
After releasing Arriba las Nalgas in 2001, Chico Trujilo was catapulted to mainstream prominence. Blending elements of cumbia, ska, rock 'n' roll, bolero, and reggae, this orquesta chilena toured extensively throughout South America, earning a reputation as one of the most energetic groups in Latin music.
A few albums later, Chico Trujillo found itself on the main stage a Denmark's Roskilde Festival, one of more than 50 European shows the band played in 2010. And then the following year, the group toured the U.S., gigging everywhere from Los Angeles to New York. This orquesta even played a showcase at South by Southwest in Austin and performed at Lollapalooza in Chicago. But surprisingly, Miami was left off the tour.
Thanks to Heineken and PAX, however, Chich Trujillo will finally be making its much-anticipated Miami debut.
