Ahead of LCD Soundsystem's third studio release, James Murphy sat down with Rolling Stone magazine and all but assured the public that This is Happening would be his band's last.

"I feel like this should be the last record because a lot of people make three good records and then they don't make good records anymore," he said. "And if we get any bigger than we are, I would lose some interest."

He did, in fact, hang it up a year later, capping LCD Soundsystem's ten-year run with a nearly four-hour show at New York City's Madison Square Garden.

At Grand Central on July 21, however, LCD lives forever.

Next month, Oscilloscope Laboratories will release Shut Up and Play the Hits, a new documentary about James Murphy, his decision to break up LCD Soundsystem, and the aftermath of the group's final show.

Locally, the film will run at Tower Theater for one night only on July 18. But Grand Central will be hosting an LCD Soundsystem-themed release party two days later on Saturday, July 21.

The event is set to feature local bands Krisp, Beatmachines, The Gun Hoes, The Goddamn Hustle and Bonnie Riot who will be covering LCD music.
