Black Moth Super Rainbow Announces 2012 U.S. Tour, Releasing Freaky Wearable Album

For the longest time, recorded music's biggest limitation has been that you can't jump from behind a corner while wearing it and scare people into squirting their drawers. Well, prepare to squirt them drawers, people near corners.

The awesomely noisy weirdos in Black Moth Super Rainbow are releasing their next album as a freaky latex mask. (The album is on a USB drive inside one of the teeth.) And they're also playing a spooky pre-Halloween show at The Stage in the Design District as part of BMSR's newly announced 2012 U.S. tour.

Sweat Records is bringing the group down on October 30 and tickets cost $10 via SweatShopMiami.com.

Meanwhile, if you want to pick up one of the masks (or have the band play a make-your-own-sundae party at a roller rink, or have them take you on a guided tour of Pittsburgh's haunted houses), head over to BMSR's gleefully warped Kickstarter page. The band is selling all kinds of strange.

So what of the album, Cobra Juicy? Main Rainbow man Tobacco describes it as "a little more demon-skater" than their previous work. You can get it for a pledge of $8, which also includes an EP and any singles and videos release during this album cycle.

Things get more interesting at the $75 level, where the listenable mask comes into play. Tobacco says, "It's a full-head, latex of the orange head from the album cover. We jam a tooth (usb stick) pre-loaded with the music, into its gums, and you can wear it for the next couple hundred years until it deteriorates."

So it's a great gift for a BMSR fan and many more generations to come, especially after we all take to living in the heaped landfills that'll soon become the only dry ground above Earth's cataclysmically rising ocean levels.

For $300, you can wear the mask in a BMSR video. For $500, you get to sit with Tobacco before a show and listen to an unreleased prank call album he made. Also for $500, you can join a weird VHS-of-the-Month club. At higher levels, you can get custom t-shirt designs, lifetime concert guest lists, your own BMSR song, and the aforementioned rollerskating party or haunted house tour.

Those last two are $10,000. If you're the kind of person to drop $10,000 on this kind of weird stuff, please get in touch. We here at Crossfade would like to be your new best friends.
