Gucci Mane is one of the greatest rappers of the past ten years. But his performance at the Sex on the Beach convention, witnessed by no more than 60 people, looked like a scene out of Spinal Tap, except instead of an outdated rock band in a bowling alley, the trap king played an empty porn expo on South Beach.

Three off-duty cops manned the entrance to the hall. But they didn't check for badges, tickets, or anything else. Straggling industry chicks and camera dudes walked in, and stage crews were busily breaking down booths.

Cocaine cowboy Mickey Munday stunted through the Miami Beach Convention Center as expensive bass rung out through the empty space. But Gucci rapped the hits and earned his check as if a thousand strong club full of hooligans were rocking right along with him. Here's what the show looked like.

60 people witnessed his performance...were 60 too many. Gucci Mane is NOT one of the greatest rappers of the past ten years. Do your research. #GTFOOH

@ariellec I saw Gucci play to way fewer people this summer, but it wasn't at a porn convention. I guess the guy doesn't have much draw

"Gucci Mane is one of the greatest rappers of the past ten years." Really? All I had to do was read that first sentence to know that this entire article is invalid.

I’m not impressed with anyone in the last few years. Majority of today’s artist are garbage. But I’d put all these before Gucci Mane.

Overall in no particular order: Nas, Kanye, Jay-Z, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Black Thought, Common, Outkast/Andre 3000, Rakim, Public Enemy/Chuck D, Gangstar/Guru, Busta Rhymes, Snoop,  KRS-One, Ludacris, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Lil’ Wayne, 50 Cent, Eminem

@ariellec Proper gig, but a short-notice one run by amateur promoters. Less than 100 people there, even though he played a huge theater

Been into Hip-Hop since its inception in the 70's; not just Rap but the entire culture. I've seen it go from birth, to the Golden Age to what it is now. I respect your opinion, I can rock some Ghostface but Gucci just ain't for me. Peace.

@richbromiami Born in the 80s, raised in the 90s I bet....no doubt all those great, but Gucci got an influential flow, like a Ghostface of the South, he beat a murder rap, and he makes hits, great don't mean best, but he is a character like a motherfucker

@Evanryt oh... not surprising. typical rap promoter BS. :) but yeah not sure how his draw is these days anyways.
