Ten Best Music-Related Things To Do in Miami This Weekend Under $10
|Sun Ra says, "TGIF!"|
Take this weekend, for instance. There's too much to do! It would be totally impossible to have all the fun that's being offered this weekend.
So we here at Crossfade have picked our favorite (and cheapest) options.
Science Fiction, Astronomy, and Experimental Film Screening. Friday, October 26, Miami Science Museum, 3280 S. Miami Ave., Miami. Starting at 6 p.m., the museum will be $5 for all ages, and the space race starts at 8 p.m. on the dot. Hosted by the Science Museum's Art & Collection Manager, Kevin Arrow, and archivist-about-town, Barron Sherer, this astral-vaganza will feature 16mm screenings of everything from NASA Aeronatics and Space Report 106 (1973) to The Motions of Attracting Bodies, Powers of Ten (1977), and Algol the Demon Star. Local musicians Kian Seara (Rare Fruit) and Gyr Bartlett (Space Voodoo Crystal) will contribute additional space sounds via "musical interventions."
Cask: A High-Art Haunted House. Friday, October 26. 6th Street Container, 1155 (rear) SW 6th Street. The performance runs once every hour, on the hour, from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m., and it's 17 minutes long. Dance, theatre, music, and the visual arts collide in this immersive adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado." Can anyone confirm whether this qualifies as LARPing?
