Metric Named "You Oughta Know Artist," Headlining VH1's Scope Art Fair Party

Remember Art Basel Miami Beach week in 2010? Our favorite memory: Metric at Art Loves Music.

Of course, though, the punky Canadian pop band has been a dear favorite of indie kids for about a decade, ever since releasing show-stopping debut Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?.

In fact, subterranean music fanatics haven't been able to stop humming "Combat Baby" since 2003. And if you aren't familiar with Metric by now ... Well, you oughta know.

That's what VH1 thinks, having just announced Emily Haines and crew as the headliner for its Scope Art Fair official opening party during next month's Basel week.

Because it's Basel, the latest VH1 You Oughta Know musicians will be playing alongside the works of three hand-picked visual artists: Brent Birnbaum, Hugh Hayden, and Patrick Martinez. Plus, FIAT is going to be there, doing something or other that's culturally sensitive and car-related.

But this is Crossfade and we know the music is the best part. So we're stoked to hear Emily and crew play all the hits from their decade-long career. And we're stoked for a whole new slew of art lovers to discover Metric's infectiously catchy hooks with a side of raw guitar.

Metric. Thursday, December 6. Scope Miami Pavilion, 110 NE 36th St. at Midtown Blvd., Miami. The show starts at 7 p.m. and the event is invite only. Visit scope-art.com.
