Henrix Drops Beats at Grand Central Miami for Central American Schoolchildren

Beat freaks are notoriously giving. They're the digital age's equivalent to the free-loving longhairs of yesteryear. Reincarnated hippies, if you will, in little more than neon short-shorts and camelback backpacks.

As such, DJ-producers have become some of the YouTube generation's biggest rock stars. But above all, they've become some of contemporary pop culture's gnarliest humanitarians.

That's why, when Miami-based beatmaster Henrix tackles Grand Central alongside DBT and Rude Boy Sven on Sunday, January 20, he'll be blending BPMs for the school-aged children of Central America.

Part of ticket proceeds collected from the MLK weekend show will be used to renovate schools in several Centroaméricano countries, proving that EDM doesn't just go hard in the club, but in the classroom too.

And aside from his philantropic work, Henrix is building a brand and climbing the industry ladder with the help of some dance music heavyweights. Swedish House Mafia boss Steve Angello, for one, is a big fan.

Last year, Angello dropped Henrix's "Hit It" during Size in the Park, the DJ's mini festival at Central Park. And the track, a collaborative effort between Henrix, GTA, and Digital Lab, will be out soon on Angello's Size Records.

In the meantime, Central American children will reap the benefits of a rising talent.
