OK...

So it'd been widely (and frantically) reported throughout the blogosphere that Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, and nearly two dozen other celebs had decided to join Stevie Wonder's Florida boycott in protest of George Zimmerman's acquittal in the death of Trayvon Martin.

Yesterday, though, Crossfade helped cast doubt on this list of 23 musical artists "in support of a change of in the Stand Your Ground Law in Florida."

In fact, aside from Mary Mary and Eddie Levert, we have found no acts who've publicly pledged support for the boycott.

And this morning, Live Nation has finally confirmed with Crossfade that Jay and JT's show in Miami will not be affected by the Florida boycott.

UPDATE George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic tell Crossfade that "we stand in support of the spirit of the 'boycott Florida' movement" and the repeal of "the 'Stand Your Ground' law in ALL states."

JT and Jay Z are still coming to Sun Life.

For our original report, we spoke with a source working on Jay Z and Timberlake's local Legends of Summer concert, scheduled for August 16 at Sun Life Stadium.

And while that individual challenged the veracity of the Florida boycotters list, there was still no official statement, because nearly everyone taking part in the promotion and production of Jay and JT's Miami show was still awaiting word from the artists and their management.

But today, Live Nation reps are unequivocal:

The Legends of The Summer

I believe if they can say we wont perform in this state bc of whatever, then they should not be allowed to profit from any sales in these states, whatsoever. I bet these artists would change their minds. $$$$$ trumps everything and believe me the modern artists are not going to follow the lead of stevie wonder, whom no one in our generation really cares about. If they punish the fans for something we have no control over, they punish themselves in the form of all of our $$$$$. Think about it. this Zimmerman/ martin thing wil not be important in a month from now, Hell I almost forgot about it until I read this.

There is a dirty little rumor going around that Jay Z and Justin Timberlake are boycotting their concert in Florida in the wake of the George Zimmerman verdict. The United States Census Bureau estimates that the population of Florida was 19,317,568 on July 1, 2012. I was unaware that the music business was so lucrative, that you can deny 19,317,568 million people to see their favorite artist perform live in the state of Florida. That sounds like a fair idea to pay tribute to Trayvon? Let's punish all people who live in Florida.

Jay forgot to mention the one caveat; I'll boycott Florida AFTER we've met our contractual obligations with Live Nation. This [Major] production wasn't going away that easy.

They would look so dumb if they boycotted. I mean, come on. Dumb as hell!

Boycotting a state isn't going to make a difference. I don't understand why nobody gets that. The root of the problem is within the people. Stop being so angry and racist and none of this has to happen.

Too bad. We already have plenty of arrogant untalented dumb asses in Florida.

BAD MOVE GUYS. I am from Florida, and I STILL think you should protest this shit. stand up for what is right. Don't just collect a check and let this travesty live on. Cancel the gig, show the people what you stand for. I will support you both either way, but I think your making a crap decision

Of course it will go on. Boycotting Florida and making a statement is only ok when it doesn't cost them money.

THE RUMOR IS FALSE (i don't BLAME the rappers and other ENTERTAINERs since their personal opinions really mean nothing to the GENERAL PUBLIC - we're NOT paying them to have OPINIONs.......... we're paying them TO STEP TO IT and sing and dance and act for our amusement and pleasure .............OR ELSE we will just call IN some other hood ni99a to TAKE THEIR PLACE in a flash of an eye-blink)

not to mention they would loose their major endorsements

@Eric Bringas you can be one of those people who cares so much about the "cause" but in reality do you think the "cause" cares about you and when you have struggles in our life. I guarantee you in a months time, less than that actually, no one will care about this Zimmerman trial, they will have moved on to something else. as for JT and JayZ, they are doing this for a living and do it for $$ nothing else. I suggest you look out for #1 too bc I bet trayvons family or is lawyers will care if you fall on hard times. get real.
