Deadmau5 Announces Free Show at Miami's Ice Palace Studios February 15
It seems that Deadmau5 and Space made good on their promise of putting on a 100-percent free event in Miami.
This evening, Deadmau5 announced that it will take place on Saturday, February 15, at Ice Palace Studios in downtown Miami. The all-access show will have a capacity of 4,000. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis starting tomorrow, Tuesday, January 28, at 1 p.m. via icepalace.wantickets.com. The 21-and-over event will only charge a $1 processing fee, with all proceeds going to the Miami Children's Hospital.

This, of course, began with Deadmau5's Twitter meltdown after his performance at Mansion in South Beach. What pissed off Joel? The fact that everyone near the DJ booth seemed more interested in playing with their phones than enjoying the music.
After several angry tweets, Deadmau5 swore, "I won't be playing any more Miami clubs." (Technically, Ice Palace isn't a club, so he's still making good on that promise too.)
After the tirade, Space extended an olive branch, asking Joel to play for his real fans for free at the venue, saying the club would cover all his expenses up to $25,000. Deadmau5 quickly agreed to the deal, going as far to ask for a larger venue. (Wish granted!)
Funny thing is that Mansion and Space are kind of run by the same people. Although not exactly part of the Opium Group portfolio, Space and Mansion share Roman Jones and Justin Levine as proprietors -- which, to be fair, Deadmau5 acknowledged in a tweet during the negotiations with Space.
Still, even in announcing the free show, Deadmau5 can't seem to lay off the passive-aggressive tweeting:
i havent even seen the artwork for this free show for approval and the info is already out.— deadmau5 (@deadmau5) January 27, 2014
so yeah, id love to announce that im playing a free show in miami. but nobody wants to fuckin tell me whats even going on? hello?— deadmau5 (@deadmau5) January 27, 2014

Ah, never change, Joel.
Anyway, here's hoping everyone stays off their cell during Deadmau5's Ice Palace appearance -- or not. Maybe, we'll get another free show out of this!
