Over the weekend, a head-on car accident on Krome Avenue tragically killed three people.

At approximately 1:45 a.m. on Sunday morning, a Dodge Durango SUV driven by 19-year-old Erick Betancourt veered into oncoming traffic and smashed into a Chevy Cavalier.

"The impact was so severe," Florida Highway Patrol trooper Joe Sanchez tells the Miami Herald, "that both vehicles ignited and were fully engulfed in flames."

Among the dead were Betancourt's teen sister Gisele, as well as both occupants of the Cavalier, Gabriel Hernandez and his friend Anthony Rodriguez, also known as DJ SonicC.

Most recognized for his 2009 release "Stickin'" on Amsterdam's Mixmash Records, Rodriguez, only 22, had also released music -- 2013's Hades EP -- through electronic dance music superstar Steve Aoki's Dim Mak Records.

The Los Angeles label, who described the Miami producer as a "young prodigy," responded to the news of the DJ's death, tweeting, "Some very saddening news. One of our dear friends and Dim Mak artist SonicC, passed away."

At the moment, there are four survivors of the Krome crash.

According to the Herald, the driver of the Durango, Erick Betancourt, is being treated at Miami Children's Hospital with broken arms and other injuries.

Three others -- Betancourt's sister Maria and cousins Julissa Ochoa, 16, and Samuel Domifilo, 24 -- are also recovering and receiving care.

Meanwhile, friends and family mourn the loss of Gisele Betancourt, Gabriel Hernandez, and Anthony "SonicC" Rodriguez.

Who would've thought this would happen? My prayers to the great DJ. I got some of his mixes on my playlist. An SUV and a sports car collision, who could ever survive? SUV's may be safe and so do sports cars. But, accidents happen when some motorists are negligent and do not care about the people around them. I have no idea how the family will cope up with the situation. Reading from this article, http://bit.ly/1tSOjd1 made me cry knowing it's never easy when you go through the pain and suffering.

I was driving on this road that morning and arrived to the site of the accident shortly after it was already blocked off by emergency vehicles.. An overwhelming sense of sadness and sympathy took over me and my prayers go out to those families who lost their loved ones. Such a heartbreaking story.
