Calle Ocho. The only time of the year when all of Miami's papi chulos y chongas interesting characters (two million, to be exact) gather en masse along a 19-block stretch in the heart of Little Havana.

Sure, every year's fest brings about its own surprises, but there are some things we can always expect to spot.

Sad because you left your Latin pride at home? Good thing there's plenty of these t-shirts emblazoned with the Cuban, Puerto Rican, Dominican, and just about any other country's flag on them.

I actually read your story (unlike most who commented) and I love your approach. You're witty and sarcastic about the whole event and I for one found it quite entertaining. Your stories are always entertaining & you are an excellent writer. I think that the magazine should have you write about more cultured events instead of trashy ones.

Yes, the SMART move is to stay away from it as far as possible.

Sounds like most of the ppl posting have not been to Calle Ocho in a long, long time or ever. Many of these criticisms are just petty. I wish Calle 8 was as crazy as everyone thinks, but it's actually pretty tame. My only complaint is the musical acts could be so much better.

I totally agree with the everyone's feedback. I went to Calle Ocho when I was 19 years old and by far this is the must undesirable venue/carnival that I've ever seen.

Great list. You photographed every single piece of shit you could and said it was unique to Calle Ocho. You forgot cups with ice, napkins, clouds in the sky...
