A Miami stylist who's worked for Dolce & Gabbana, Teen Vogue, and Women's Wear Daily, Shareen Rubiera-Sarwar started her own online shop (Vintage Mavens) last May so she'd have somewhere to sell all the great vintage she encounters at Miami estate sales and thrift stores. With the help of her mom, she also designs Vintage Maven Originals. Born in Bangladesh and raised in New York, Rubiera-Sarwar came to Miami to attend Fashion at the Art Institute, now Miami International University, and decided to stay. Her choice threads and styling are further enhanced by her photographer/filmmaker husband Jorge Rubiera. See her first video lookbook here, follow her on Twitter, and become a fan on Facebook

1.  List five things that inspire you.

-  Jorge, my husband, who is the most creative person I know
-  Charles Bukowski, whose writing always seems to inspire me
-  The Everglades and the Atlantic Ocean.
-  David Bowie (his music and his style)
-  My amazing parents who have always supported me through all my creative endeavors

2.  What was your last big project?

Putting together Tusk (below), our fall/winter video lookbook for my vintage clothing store, Vintage Mavens. I knew I wanted it to be calm, yet eerie at the same time.  I wanted to take a step away from the usual "pretty" fashion videos.  I wanted this one to be dark and moody. I think it worked.

3.  What's your next big project?

We are starting a Dolphin T-shirt initiative. I'll be working with Scottish fashion illustrator Francesca Waddell to design a T-shirt that will be sold through my website. All proceeds will benefit The Cove Dolphin initiative.

4.  Why do you do what you do?

Because I love knowing that I'm wearing something from a different time. Because I like recycling clothes. Because vintage is way cooler than something you get at the mall.

5.  What's something you want Miami to know about you?

I came here four years ago from New York and have been changed in the most amazing way by this place. Its energy is contagious, its scenery is stunning, and its people are brimming with talent. This is where I want to be.

What's something you don't want Miami to know about you?

If I catch you littering or throwing trash out of your car window, I will come after you and make you pick it up. I've done it before.
