When filmmaker Fro Rojas graduated the International Fine Arts College (now known as Miami International University of Art & Design) in 2001, he thought he would be leaving Miami for good. But unfortunate circumstances brought him back from Los Angeles.

"When my mom passed away, I had to come back and take care of my little sister." His sister is now off to college, which leaves Rojas with less parenting responsibilities and more time to dedicate to his craft.

And you better believe that being pulled away from L.A. didn't stop him for perusing his filmmaking career. Directing everything from commercials to music videos to promos has kept the 31-year-old busy. Now, with the help of a L.A. production company, he's working on getting his first feature film off the ground.

1. List five things that inspire you.

- Music
- Creativity
- Dreams
- Imagination
- Magical creatures

2. What was your last big project?

AT&T commercial that I directed for the always classy Bravo Group.

3. What's your next big project?

Starting pre-production for a Borscht Film Festival short film for this year's festival and finalizing an upcoming feature film with a very classy producing team based out of L.A. wanting to shoot the movie in Miami.

4. Why do you do what you do?

Because doing anything else would be the death of me. I love all aspects of filmmaking. It's a part of me. its my life and soul. The idea to bring a story to life with images and storytelling fascinates me. I've been very fortunate through hard work and dedication that I make a living doing what I love to do.

5. What's something you want Miami to know about you?

I believe that gnomes live in our dryers and take one sock all the time while you dry.

What's something you don't want Miami to know about you?

I don't want anyone to know that my real name is Fernando. If you call me Fernando, it's because a) we haven't spoken since elementary or b) we really don't know each other.
