Most kids have one imaginary friend. Natasha Tsakos had two imaginary horses. As a kid she spent hours in her closet, sustaining herself with freeze-dried astronaut food. This foray into an imaginary world helped develop the writer/actor/director/producer's inherent creativity, and by the age of 13 she had already produced her first play -- her interpretation of French novelist Courteline's Peace at Home.

Having lived in Switzerland, England, France, and Guatemala, Tsakos wound up at New World School of the Arts in 2000 where she got her BFA. Since then she has been "astro-performing" her ass off, writing, directing, producing, and acting in her own theater and film pieces.

This prolific performer has over 300 acting credits, directed 30 plays, and produced six feature-length films. Her work has been commissioned by Nickelodeon, the Miami Art Museum, the Miami Light Project, and been featured in Art Basel and on MTV, the BBC, and HBO.

No wonder she says she has no social life. "I'll definitely go out.... with my scrap book and pencil. I'm the crazy one doodling at the bar while the music is blasting! I found exceptional friends here in Miami, and we all work together. I absolutely must mix pleasure with work, otherwise what is the point?"

3. What's your next big project?
It's a bit of a secret right now, but I can tell you the show is called "i" and uses 3D mapping.

4. Why do you do what you do?
I couldn't imagine life without theatre. It's my sanity. I don't think linearly, or academically, but in concepts, stories, movement. I get these rush of sensations, sounds, and colors; they all dance, and play together. It's dynamic and quiet. It's surreal and absurd. It's my reality. I need to take people with me. Theatre is my space-time travel capsule.
