Miami's First H&M Opens on Lincoln Road

Now that New World Symphony moved across the alley to the fancy Frank Gehry building, what's to happen to the delicious art deco Lincoln Road Theatre? Well, if the Miami Herald is correct, part of it will be outfitted as Miami's first H&M store next year. Many of you recognize this Swedish clothing store from semesters abroad in Europe or from weekends in metropolises such as New York.

Much like cheap, good food option Trader Joe's, the cheap clothing store has been painfully absent from the Magic City for years. There are, however, ~~two~~ three H&Ms in Florida: ~~one~~ two in Orlando and one in West Palm Beach. Us cheap-ass hipsters in the 305 have been forced to slum it at sneakily Evangelical Forever21 for our $10 rompers. And frankly, we're tired of coming home with bright yellow bags with bible verses on them. It kills our ironic, hipster moods.

H&M's arrival to Lincoln Road is a long time coming. They even opened in Kuwait before considering setting up shop in our resort city. But there are almost 600 members in the Facebook Let's Get H&M in Miami group so perhaps the brand finally took notice.

And considering Crossfade's Open Letter series -- in which they politely ask bands who don't normally stop in Miami to come on by -- and the fact that Fleet Foxes actually responded, well maybe all you have to do is make your desire known. So what else do you want Miami? Join us in shouting "Trader Joe's!" and "blue-collar bowling alleys!" A few more independent bookstores would also be nice, but that's just us being greedy. We'll settle for $12 tunics and $22 handbags from Sweden. For now.

Miami Beach Nooooo.... No locals Miami Residents shop on Miami Beach, parking is horrendous. Tourist, congestion... Why not Aventura Mall, CoCo Walk in the Grove, Shoppes at Midtown, Kendall, Sunset place or even Dolphin Mall... Something... Not Miami Beach.... Damn

I just hope that once they open an H&M in Miami it actually lives up to all the hype and sells the real "hipster" clothes we're all waiting for. I recently visited H&M in Orlando and I was very disappointed to see that it was closer to an AE / Hollister store than the real Swedish trendy store we all love.

Actually, I'd like to say that H&M really isn't a hipster ridden store. I live in New York City and a real hipster wears vintage from thrift and consignment stores. Maybe they'll mix in a little bit of H&M but it's not all H&M.

This is fantastic news! But, just FYI, there's a Francesca's Collection in the Village of Merrick Park -- not exactly the same, but not too shabby.

There are two H&Ms in Orlando. It's kind of a bummer about the Lincoln Theatre getting turned into a chain store.

H & M RUles although now that it is on Lincoln Rd too many people will be sporting it, thus no longer making it hipster. BTW....when in LA last I told Trader Joe's that they need to come to Miami, they said to let it be known anyway possible via email FB..whatever, I'm starting a come to Miami Trader Joe's page so......who's in?

Being born and raised in a large metropolitan city, Philadelphia, I know all to well the symbiosis between H&M and Hipster. In fact, my parent's apartment is located within 500 feet from two! and you can barely cross the street without being taken down by a fixed-gear ridden by a crazed hipster. I can only imagine the droves of scraggly stached' and skinny jeaned dunk sporters that will be cartwheeling down Lincoln with joy now that their prized establishment is finally opening doors in the Magic City. I won't hold my breath for Trader Joes just yet though...
