Jipsy, AKA Nefarious Girl.
If you are not familiar with Miami's camera queen Jipsy (AKA Nefarious Girl), you've probably never step foot inside of a nightclub. Since moving away from her hometown of Queens, New York, Jipsy has captured Miami's night creatures. Her golden era was perhaps around 2005 to 2008, when Miami's underground nightlife scene was slowly bubbling over into the mainstream.

That was exactly the time frame Jipsy decided to highlight at her first solo exhibition, "Just As You Were," on display at Butter Gallery until April 2. Any nightclub maven can remember logging on to nefariousgirl.com Monday morning to piece together what exactly happened during the weekend. As seen last night, her exhibit gave you exactly that same sinking feeling that you were going to be caught in compromising position, but in the end its all about capturing a joyful moment in time.

The exhibit is made up of several large prints, but the real star is the mural of small prints affixed next to each other almost like a mosaic. Several nightlife notables, both international (Justice, Junior Sanchez, Amanda Lepore) and local (Alan T., Danny Daze, the Poplife crew) were all represented. Jipsy always seems to be there at the right place and time.
