Never heard of Boenta or Hough? What are you doing, reading a book or something? Just kidding, we've never heard of them either. Luckily, Rock of Ages also co-stars Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, and Mary J. Blige. Meanwhile Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, and Amy Adams are all said to be in negotiations to join the cast.
"I think they're trying to work out what I like to call scheduling," Brand told MTV News. "Scheduling" is code for salary. Russell Brand holding out for more money? What a rockstar.
Rock of Ages begins filming in Miami on May 19, and while the city's doubling for Hollywood, it proves Miami is more authentic than Los Angeles. That's why director Adam Shankman (A Walk to Remember, Hairspray) chose to film his movie down here, and not grimy-ass LA. Well that, and apparently there are parts of this city that look like the Sunset Strip circa the 1980s.
"I can't shut down the Sunset Strip for six weeks," Shankman told the Hollywood Reporter, "and in Miami we're turning four blocks basically into a backlot. We'll digitally add in the hills."
Rather than inconveniencing Hollywood for six weeks, Shankman would rather inconvenience us for almost two months via the inevitable roadblocks, detours, paparazzi, celebrity sightings, and autograph hounds that come with every film set. Thanks, Shankman. Good luck on your movie.
