So lucky for us, we got the chance to chat with her and ask her about everything from her NBA boo, the ladies, and why the hell she did this show in the first place.
New Times: What did you think of the first episode of Basketball Wives, Season 3?
Meeka Claxton: I mean, I watched it. And this is what I signed up for--it's not me, the way I was portrayed, but it was entertaining.
So you're already feeling you're being edited to be a person you're not by VH1?
Yes. I was very surprised. A lot with Royce; it was all cut out that I said how nice she was, how bubbly she was. So, it's funny how it started so innocently.
What made you want to join the Basketball Wives?
My friends watching the show would tell me, 'You should be on there! You're a wife, you're a business woman. Show that side of being a basketball wife.' And then Shaunie and I have a mutual friend and she suggested it when I began talking about opening a second office
What did your husband say when you told him you were joining the show?
He didn't want to do it. He said the same things; that the show had a bad stigma, but in the end, he agreed that it would be good to show someone that wasn't about all the drama, because that's not me at all. Just someone who has a business and a great family and foundation

I would have to agree. It emphasized the glamorous part, but the people that have jobs, foundations, families--I wanted to show that.
Were you intimidated coming in and joining the show?
It's always unnerving when you're the new girl. It was kind of like high school when the new girl comes in looking at you, thinking, 'What is she doing here?'
Had you watched the show before you joined?
I watched a few episodes before. But I was always in and out of New York and Atlanta, so I didn't see every episode.
Well, the real question is--did you see the episode with the fight between Tami Roman and Evelyn Lozada?
Of course, they replayed that a few times. At the time when I saw it, I had even thought about being on the show. It was crazy.
So, now that you have been filming for a few weeks, would you say you're friends with the ladies?
I wouldn't consider any of them friends. But I'm still getting to know them. It's been such a short amount of time. And I didn't go in there looking for friends. Its only been about two months, though.

No, I think she seems horrible, but she is a cool, cool girl. I get to see another side of her. She is definitely not a bitch.
Do you read the things people say about you?
A lot of people are Royce fans and the show made me look a different way than I really am, so they have come at me. But I don't pay attention to it. I ignore the negativity.
