But this year, the Swiss art fair-ers are upping the accessibility factor by screening their Art Video series on the projection wall of the New World Center.
In past years, the video art program only screened within the hallowed walls of the Miami Beach Convention Center. Beyond the venue, the only details we know about this year's selection is that it will be organized in association with London's Artprojx.
Last year, the program was curated by Lauri Firstenberg of LAXART, and all the videos looked at diverse practices of artists working on the ground in Los Angeles. The theme and roster for this year's Art Video program will be announced shortly in October.
Although a Londoner will no doubt have a hand in the selection, we hope he or she acknowledges the awesome video work going on in this city by including at least one of our on-screen art heroes: Antonia Wright, Jillian Mayer, Coral Morphologic, and Lindsay Scoggins.
In addition to public, free screenings of Art Video on the New World Center, Art Basel Miami Beach is also collaborating with the Bass Museum to fill Collins Park with art and performances by artists and emerging talents. Details of this Art Public program will be announced in November.
