Great Find: Color Blocked Dress at The Dressing Room

Miami may be one of the vainest cities in the country -- but at least we look good doing it. In that spirit, we're indulging our love of the superficial by spotlighting fashion finds in the 305.

The Find: A beige and purple sleeveless color-blocked dress with a menswear inspired silhouette by Lush.

The Shop: Available at The Dressing Room in South Miami for a price that makes boutique shopping more affordable than neighboring Urban Outfitters. Plus, as is the perk with boutique shopping, you won't be wearing the same thing as every middle school girl in Miami.

The Reason: Color blocked looks have been a long time trend. It's like the Fast and Furious of the fashion world -- they just keep on pumping them out. Brands like Dries Van Noten, Marni, and Proenza Schouler have consistently shown color layered over color, with  a few patterns and textures thrown in for that distinctly man-repelling fashion girl look. Spring collections -- the only ones really relevant in our sweaty, sweaty city -- carry on the color-blocking trend.

The Cost: $58

The Style: The average dresser can tackle this trend by investing in a dress like this one, with an unexpected color and comfortable details. If you're a commitment-phobe (and who isn't, really), pair it with neutral accessories like stacked gold bracelets and a nude ballet slipper. If you're wearing this to work, invest in a slip (they have great ones at The Dressing Room), and add menswear accessories like tasseled loafers and a blazer. If the neutral tones give you a creepy "South Miami Mom" vibe, young it up with a neon belt, a colorful pair of shoes or a bright clutch -- or all three, because in this town, there's never too much of a good thing.
