Pain and Gain Casts Rebel Wilson of Bridesmaids Fame

​We've been watching the construction of the Sun Gym set for Pain and Gain with equal parts excitement and horror. On one hand, we love watching movies that are actually shot in Miami. On the other: Michael Bay's not exactly known for his cinematic masterpieces, and last month's rumor that Bethenny Frankel was auditioning for a role didn't exactly increase our optimism.

Still, yesterday's revelation that Australian actress Rebel Wilson, known for her role as the dry, dim-witted roommate to Kristin Wiig in Bridesmaids, gives us hope for the movie.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Wilson will play Ramona Eldridge, a character who serves time in prison after getting involved in the film's central kidnapping and extortion scheme. We're hoping she adds some genuine female wit to Pain and Gain; so far, the only other woman cast is Bar Paly, who's not exactly known for her acting chops.

Other members of the cast include Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Ed Harris, Tony Shaloub, Anthony Mackie, and Rob Corddry.

Pain and Gain isn't the only post-Bridesmaids work Wilson's been doing. She's starring in the upcoming Bachelorette and What to Expect When You're Expecting, and is also writing and producing a comedy called Super Fun Night, which was recently sold to CBS.
