Fashion Bloggers Do It Better: Behind the Scenes

Sweet Savvy Street blogger Casey Garcia gets primped by the Beauty For Real team.
Most people think bloggers are just lazy slobs, holed up in their apartments all day and working in their pjs with sloppy bed head and a lukewarm cup of joe. But that myth got debunked last night, when Ricochet hosted Fashion Bloggers Do It Better

Turns out, we do, in fact, swap our bathrobes for fierce fashion from time to time.
The music was pumping, the crowd was cheering, and adrenaline was rushing in the veins of more than 15 local bloggers, including Maria Tettamanti of The Wordy Girl, Kelly Saks of Kelly's Kloset, Casey Garcia of Sweet Savvy Street, Maika from The Glam Life Blog and Kristin Clark of Living in Color Print. The girls stepped out from behind the comfort of their laptops for a stoll down the runway, proving Miami's fashion blogger scene is alive, well and well put together.

Each blogger chose a look that represented her personal style. Donning garb from local boutiques like Gg, GuyandGirl, and Furor Moda, a little bit of everything that's currently en vogue took to the catwalk.

Wonder woman power.
From Kelly Saks' bold neon bikini and Daniela Ramirez's high-waisted cutoffs and fringe top to Ana Ortuño's bold sheer summer sweater, and even Mayleen Gonzalez's geek chic frames from Collins Bridge, the show was as diverse as Miami's fashion blogger melting pot. The common bond, however, aside from hair by the Cutler team and makeup by Beauty For Real, was a passion for fashion and a pose at the end of the runway for the cameras helmed by local photog bloggers Karla Garcia, Jose Romero, and Danny Delgado.

But fashion was just one aspect of the party, the second in a series of events sponsored by blogger bible Refinery29 and organized by by Annie Vazquez of The Fashion Poet and Eugy and Simonette of the Goodwill Project. The other, another fashion blogger vice, was shopping. Local designers and boutiques like Jewels by Dunn, I shine 365, and Feather Fusion set up shop while some 300 bloggers and blog readers scoured the goods.

And it was good. Better, in fact, because that's just how Miami's fashion bloggers do it.
