The Legion Fetish Party: Dildos, Dungeons, and Swine (NSFW)

Cultist unfurled its freak flag and attended the Legion Fetish Party held at Nowhere Lounge this past Saturday. As with most fetish parties, part of the fun comes from being surrounded by outrageous outfits and even more outrageous behavior. But in the name of serious journalism, we were there solely to observe. Oh, the sacrifices we make for our faithful readers.

We spent most of the night in the spanking room, aka dungeon, which had been set up with spanking tables, restraints, and so on, so revelers could engage in "scenes." Despite the loud music, we did manage to converse with some of our fellow freaks -- and we also discovered that being stuck in a bathroom stall for 45 minutes at a fetish party can be a life-altering experience.

Despite our severe moderate inebriation (serious journalism, remember?), we managed to take copious notes on soggy cocktail napkins in a mission to provide you with an inside look at the Miami fetish party scene. Follow the jump for our notes, culled directly from 100% recyclable materials.

Crossdresser
When you bought your iPhone from this guy at the Apple store, you probably didn't know he was wearing his girlfriend's panties under his uniform. Rowr.

"I'm not a freak, but my gf is."
She's all dolled up and he's in a black tee. Kudos for being supportive. Cute!

Men are Pigs
We get it -- men are swine. Ball gag = apple. We don't know much about this particular fetish, and we'll be damned if we're gonna Google it to find out more.

I dont blame external factors for "killing" the scene. The scene is about people not parties. ........... Just saying that this kind of piece will drive the "real players" away from associating with any of the new parties like a Legion for example.

I agree one hundred percent (shudders at 50 Shades). I think that certain reactions to this article can be summed up by your earlier comment that people in the SoFla BDSM scene don't know the meaning of satire.

Stand by your opinion all you want -- it is still erroneous. Don't blame external factors for the fact that the 'scene' is not what it used to be -- or what it is in places such as NY and CA.

You're lucky that New Times is not producing articles about BDSM 50 Shades of Grey style. I completely disagree with your statement that New Times tries to portray this lifestyle in a seedy, negative light. This is absolutely not true. I wrote a cover story for New Times a couple of years ago about working as a dominatrix and it was not portrayed in a negative way. In fact the editor tried very hard to understand the lifestyle.  As for this particular article, I don't think the author meant any harm. In fact, I wouldn't blame the author at all.  Remember that behind every writer, there's an editor. As for the Legion parties, I do agree with you. The scene is changing. Even at the Submission party that's supposed to be a fetish party, all you see is goth, emo and glam fetish crowd. But then again, I wouldn't do any serious play in a club.

My issues isnt with light hearted jokes about people within any scene but the New Times has been printing tons of articles about "BDSM" in the last few years with a common theme. Articles about people in the lifestyle showing this seedy, strange lifestyle, and generally painting them in a negative light.   I will stand by my statement that this article will not help the Legion parties going foward. Expect less actual real play at future parties. this party will probably start skewing to an already heavy goth/emo/ fetish-light crowd. There is a reason why the lifestylers keep to private gatherings and why the more bdsm centered parties do not allow media or cameras. just opinion or maybe I should get a sense of humor.

As a person who lives the lifestyle and writes erotica for a living, the last thing I would ever do is disparage the community. My post was clearly facetious and no harm or foul intended. I had a good time at the event and made that clear in the intro. Like Duran said, "Sense of humor. Get one."

Sense of humor. Get one. This isn't any "lower" than when we talk about ravers, gays, hippies or whatever other subculture out there. Only thing different is they don't take themselves so seriously.

New Times seems to slum lower and lower. The people who put together Legion should think twice about letting them cover their events. Talk about a way to drive people away from your events.

I know for a fact that first guy doesn't work at Apple... or wear woman's panties. Way to make things up.
