The world's largest lady lumps are a size ZZZ.

Whether or not you own a pair of sweater puppies, we bet you didn't know those letters in the alphabet could have anything to do with what's going on underneath that inconspicuous blouse.

Though the breast is a universal symbol for womanhood, few take the time to appreciate their many facets -- and those who do aren't usually very respectful about it. So New Theatre is launching its BOOMFROG! Series with an evening dedicated to the wonders of the boob.

Keeping A-Breast - see what they did there? -- is the collaborative effort of eight playwrights and New Theatre aimed at paying tribute to the beauty and importance of the mamma (that's Latin for "breast"). The piece kicks off the 2012-13 season of the BOOMFROG! Series beginning Saturday, September 1, getting a head start on October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

"Sometimes as women we don't celebrate our breasts," Eileen Suarez, managing director of New Theatre, said as one of the reasons behind the artistic endeavor.

The show will be a combination of monologues and two character scenes that range from comedic to dramatic. Each piece has a voice of its own, but is linked harmoniously with a beginning, middle and end coordinated by New Theatre's artistic director, Ricky J. Martinez. A portion of the proceeds from the performances will go to support breast cancer awareness programming in Miami-Dade County.

The writers behind the project include award finalists and winners and nationally recognized poets and playwrights: Catherine Bush, David Caudle, Vanessa Garcia, Peggy C. Hall, Elly Rakowitz, Ruth Pleva, James Carrey, R. Kent Wilson, and Martinez. The show will be co-directed by New Theatre Literary Manager Steven A. Chambers.

"BOOMFROG! is dedicated to innovation, collaboration and new works by local and national playwrights. They're fresher and haven't had as many readings or workshops than other mainstream works, but deserve a voice in a venue," Suarez said.

Suarez said New Theatre's last original project, the first Miami One-Acts Festival, was the catalyst for the new series. "We saw the hunger playwrights have to produce unique pieces," she explained.

BOOMFROG! will run alongside New Theatre's regular 2012-13 season, which features main stage classics and world premieres. This includes Willy Russell's Educating Rita, the world premiere of Robert Caisley's Happy--part of a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere -- John Pielmeier's Agnes of God and a second surprise BOOMFROG! event. Capping off the season will be the world premiere of Martinez's Road Through Heaven, a play from his trilogy In God's Land.

Come sneak a peek at the goodies and watch new original material that both men and women can enjoy.
