Pepe Billete Says Chick-Fil-A VPLP

Last week I took a little break from the column to celebrate my birthday. The party was amazing and even managed to get the attention of NBC!

While it did take me a couple of days to recover, I had a plan to come back this week with an open letter to Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson, pero after all of this comemierderia with Chick-Fil-A going on in the news, I felt compelled to address it, given its relevancy to our local community. Sorry Chad, you're just going to have to wait till next week, pipo.

Let me start off by saying that I've never eaten at a Chick-Fil-A, and at this point, I guess I never will. A mi la pinga, because I know I'm not missing much having a Pollo Tropical less than a mile away from my house. But I digress.

Chick-Fil-A publicly "came out" to the world last week, declaring itself a bigoted, anti-gay corporation when the owner of the company made it vehemently clear that Chick-Fil-A openly supports anti-gay organizations and is against gay marriage. Speaking from a strictly business standpoint, alienating your customers is probably the dumbest thing any business owner can do. I asked myself why anyone would publicly make an assertion like that, knowing the effect it could have on sales, but then I saw the owner's picture and everything became clear. The guy looks like he smells dicks for a living -- who the hell is going to take anything he says seriously?

The Chick-Fil-A fiasco will disappear much faster than the moral question of Gay Marriage will, and because of this, I think it's worthy of discussion. Same-sex marriage was constitutionally banned in Florida on November 6, 2008, and since then, I've always believed that the main reason that amendment passed was due to simple semantics.

The word "marriage" has a religious connotation that is hard to escape. If the word "marriage" were replaced with "union" or "alliance" in the mainstream media, I firmly believe that gay marriage would not face the opposition that it does today. "Marriage" is a word that is based in religion that has no place in American politics or any American state's Constitution. America was founded on the idea that there is a separation of church and state. It doesn't matter if you're Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, or Santero. If you are legally married, you are entitled to tax and health benefits that have nothing to do with the constraints of a religion. We do not live in a Christian society, no matter how much the lawmakers of today want to make you believe that we do. The legal definition of "union" is completely separate from the religious definition of the word "marriage."

With that said, I want to present you with the top three reasons why gay unions should be legalized in Florida.

At this point people know Chik-Fil-A (CFA) is a White Christian Anglo Saxon Protestant business. Whites, are the managers, women are the cashiers and Mexicans (i.e.brown people) clean the tables and bathrooms. That is according to every CFA, I've ever been to. It is common knowledge they do not like gays and they contribute to "Pray the Gay Away" charities. This shouldn't be a shocker. A gay person eating at CFA is like a Jewish person supporting Hitler. It makes no sense.

“We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that,”

This is the quote that Cathy said.

What upsets me is, as a divorced man, this fuck nut se cree que es mejor que uno, because he is married to his first wife. Que probablemente es una 700 lbs. vaca asquerosa because she all she eats are Waffle Fries and Iced Dream vanilla shakes. I digress, I never asked to get divorced, she did. I've moved on and got married to a fantastic woman. According to Cathy, not directly but if you read between the lines, being either gay or divorced that make people less than him. Does it make me a bad man that I am divorced? According to his interpretation of the bible, I am. I am not, and he is for judging me. So fuck him.

Here is the rub, even though I can't stand Cathy (what kind of a name is Cathy anyway) he has every right to say that. This is America. CFA has every right to run it's organization as they want. Just like Jeff Bezos donating a large sum of cash for gay marriage. If you do not support the company stance, THEN DON'T EAT THERE!!! I won't eat at CFA anymore. Even though I love their fries... and shakes. What upsets me is when politicians gets involved in this, like the mayor of Chicago and Boston getting into the mix just to posture. No te metas.

pepito el lindo17, you have written the biggest piece of hypocritical garbage ever in comment form. You say his choice of words is offensive, and then you say he writes and eats shit and sucks penis. Really? You tell P$ to go back to Cuba (also terribly offensive, as a Cuban I'd kick your ass if you told me that to my face) so he can learn to write properly, but your comment looks like it was written by an illiterate, 5year-old bigot. You sir need to learn how to write, and you sir are full of shit. To the real Pepe, awesome article! I loved it.

I find it ironic that a lot of the people that dont have a problem with gay marriage would freak out with finding out that their own son is un mariconsito or daughter is una tortillera.

Its ok for them to do it "pero no mi hijo"

Lmao "People say that marriage is a sacred union. Coño, I agree! The $25,000 I made last year marrying a Colombianita for papers was sacred as fuck when I used the money to buy una lancha pa singar putas in Biscayne Bay."

your an idiot .. hands down... Pepe billete is the jon stewart for the Cuban american population....Comic... A political Comic at that.. and Granted  while Christians are still narrow minded about masturbating and gay marriage  ... The truth of the matter is that we shouldn't be worrying about other peoples lives...Thats why our country is in the shit hole it is ... We have to stop worrying about other peoples problems and separate government from religion... we might be better off and not fighting so many urban civil wars and wars outside our boundaries.... Pepe I'm right behind you brother!

it's not a freedom of speech issue, he's using his profits to support groups and organizations who are actively trying to deny gays rights and condone treating them like less of a person...

if the ceo of burger king came out and said he supports the KKK, there would be an uproar... same basic concept applies here. you're entitled to your opinion, but its YOUR opinion, no one else should HAVE to fit into it

@kfernandez2 There's no freedom of speech issue here. No one denies Chick-Fil-A's management the right to be a homophobic asshole. Those of us who support equality simply refuse to let them do it with our money.

@pepitoellindo17 Considering you wrote everything in caps and rarely used proper sentences, I would suggest not criticizing Pepe for his writing skills.

what gives that old piece of shit, or anyone at all the right to tell any person who they can or can't spend their lives with...

you got a problem with gay marriage..? then don't marry a homosexual, problem solved..

i don't understand why it's such an issue.. especially in a society where divorce rates are above 50%, the hypocrisy is insane...

ivxx
ivxx

if you're uncomfortable cuz your son or daughter is gay that's your problem. other gay couples have nothing to do with it, why should they suffer becuase you refuse to accept your kid's orientation. the obvious logic behind all this homophobia is either someone close to said homophobe, or the homophobe themself is a flaming homo. rather than accept reality, they'll try and rationalize the "disease" away in any way possible. and for what, becuase you saw a dude in a swimsuit and felt funny, now gays can't marry, get over yourself.. it's not about you

kfernandez2

its funny u mention behaving in an offensive way....... what More OFFENSIVE THAT HAVING THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE (GAY OR OTHERWISE) SWAPING SPIT OUTSIDE YOUR BUSINESS BECAUSE OF YOUR COMMENTS...

LISTEN _ LETS JUST AGREE TO DISAGREE!!!

(even thou u are wrong):-)

Ciara1

@kfernandez2 That's actually not all. Chick-Fil-A has donated millions to anti-gay organizations: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/02/chick-fil-a-anti-gay-group-donations-_n_1644609.html The company has the right to do that, of course. But that money comes from the people who buy its products, who have the right to boycott when a company behaves in a way we find offensive.

Boycotts have been used as tactics for centuries, including by the same American Revolutionaries who made freedom of speech a constitutional right in the first place. So no, freedom of speech does not apply to this debate.
