It's getting hot in here.
As a contributor to the Miami New Times for the past few years, I've learned a few things. And I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others so that they too can obtain a modicum of success.

Aside from my continued contributions to New Times, I am also an editor, a publisher, and published fiction author. During interviews and lectures, the question I hear most often is, "As a highly successful author, publisher, editor, and circus clown, how do you find the time to maintain your swag, Ms. Goyanes?" (Just go with it.)

The answer is simple -- my swag is self-sustainable.

The question I hear second most often is, "How do I become an extremely popular and successful author like you, Ms. Goyanes?"

Follow the jump for the answer.

My answer, without fail, is, "Tweet. A lot. Spend half of your waking hours on Facebook. And become a New Times contributor. If you don't live in Miami, move to Miami -- just so you can write for the New Times."

I have come to believe that writing for the New Times is the secret to an author's success. I mean, c'mon...Christopher Lopez and I can't both be flukes.

In the honored New Times tradition of arts patronage and indentured multitasking, I interviewed myself about my new book, Girls Who Score: Hot Lesbian Erotica. Enjoy.

New Times: So why Girls Who Score? Why not, say, Girls With Implants?

Goyanes: Well, I wanted to go with something trendy and popular -- after all, authors make their money from royalties. Who pays attention to girls with fake boobs? Two words: No one.

Don't you think that female athletes have been played out?
You mean because of all the professional opportunities, bloated annual salaries, signing bonuses, and the hundreds of millions of dollars in endorsements every year? Nah. Any woman who wears a bikini while performing in the Olympics for hundreds of millions of people deserves more. If Lady Gaga were here, I believe she'd agree.

Your book, Girls Who Score, is billed as 'hot lesbian erotica.' Is it comparable to 50 Shades of Grey?
If you take into account the quality of the writing, the complexity of the characters, and the engaging dialogue in my book, then the answer is no. But more importantly, are they both books about sex? The answer is a resounding yes. Girls Who Score is exactly like 50 Shades of Grey. Now go out and buy it in astounding numbers. I want lesbian erotica to outsell Shakespeare.

What can you tell us about GWS?
I can tell you a lot since it's my book - trust me, Ily, you came to the right place. GWS contains sixteen stories by some of the world's most popular erotica authors. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll probably want to read it alone or with a lover -- naked. It celebrates the female athlete. It's porn for smart people. It's hot, and funny, and sexy, and clever. GWS rocks.

But don't just take my word for it, visit the GWS Blog Tour, read a few excerpts, and see for yourself.
