The LeBrons: LeBron James' Cartoon Starring Four Different LeBrons Proves LeBron Is God
LeBron James is deep. LeBron James is wise. LeBron James is the multifaceted, ever diversifying, way sexier Buddha of professional basketball.
LeBron is not just an athlete. LeBron is not merely a man. He is many men in one body: a god-like sports star, yes, but also a child, an old man, a savvy businessman.
He is also the producer of The LeBrons, a cartoon about a family made up of all the LeBron Jameses inside LeBron James' head, created by LeBron James and starring LeBron James in one of the roles. Follow us into the light of LeBron, won't you?
The LeBrons, now in its second season, is a web series of short, animated adventures about the LeBron family: Kid LeBron, just your average youngster growing up in Akron; Athlete LeBron, who's great at basketball but not so great at pitching tents; Business LeBron, a suave, afro'd LeBron voiced by King James himself; and Wise LeBron, an old man with the wisdom of the ancients.
It looks like a mere children's cartoon. But think deeper; this is LeBron Effing James we're talking about here. These are his characters. The story they tell is the story of LeBron himself. These Sims-like cartoons are the ingredients that combine inside the vast expanse of James mind, mixed with magic dust and the blessing of the universe itself, to create the Miami deity that is COBRADICK.*
You know who else has many faces? Eddie Murphy in Norbit, sure. But also: Brahma, the Hindu god of creation and the great grandsire of all human beings. The LeBrons is LeBron's announcement to the world: I AM THE GOD OF YOU. We do not have to understand LeBron's actions or his motivation -- why, for example, is he making a cartoon about four different versions of himself, distributing it through Xbox and Microsoft, and aligning it with the U.S. Army?
It does not matter. LeBron works in mysterious ways. Through LeBron, all things are possible.
To which we say, amen.
