Dave Chappelle Announces Three Shows at the Fillmore UPDATED

Categories: Comedy

The city of Miami is fully saturated in Art Basel madness this week. But if there's any news that can cut through the haze of champagne hangovers and celebrity cameos, it's this:

It's Dave Chappelle, bitch!

Update: After Chappelle's first show sold out, a second, later show has been added.

Update: A third show has now been added. Y'all really love your Chappelle, huh?

The Chappelle Show comedian returned to life as a touring stand-up earlier this year after an abrupt absence from life in the public eye in 2005. Apart from a few isolated projects -- the documentary Dave Chappelle's Block Party in 2006, and a gig at New York City comedy club The Comedy Cellar this past February -- the widely popular, critically acclaimed Chappelle hadn't been seen much since the height of his fame in the early 2000s.

But that hasn't made him any less funny. Chappelle's shows earlier this year in Atlanta, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee were met with raves; he also headlined Austin's Funny or Die tour. It's safe to say that Chappelle's back, on his own terms -- and that's a good thing for everyone.

Now comes last night's announcement that Chappelle will perform at the Fillmore Miami Beach next Friday, Dec. 13. Tickets went on sale Thursday, Dec. 5 at 5 p.m., and prices start at $55. If you haven't already blown your budget on an ill-advised art purchase or two, this is a rare chance to see one of this generation's funniest people do his thing.

Update: A new show has been added at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, after Chappelle's 8 p.m. show sold out. Ticket price ($55) and points of sale remain the same.

Update: A third show will take place Saturday, Dec. 14, at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are now on sale.

Dave Chappelle at the Fillmore, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., and Dec. 14 at 9:30 p.m. Tickets cost $55, on sale Dec. 5 at 5 p.m. Visit livenation.com, call 800-745-3000, or visit the Fillmore box office.

His last show at the Fillmore was bad. Not get heckled and walk off the stage bad, but he was only funny about 10-15% percent of the time he was on stage. Hoping he steps his game up.
