It's a little more likely now that the Miami International Film Festival has announced a sneak peek of its 2014 lineup of films. Hiddleston is one of a handful of stars due to hit screens around town when the festival's 31st season kicks off this March.
MIFF today announced a list of 42 films that will screen as part of its noncompetition offerings this year. Selections come from all over the world, including China, Spain, Mexico, and the United States. Several are up for Spain's prestigious Goya Award, with MIFF's slate accounting for 57 nominations in total.
"The lineup so far also features several directors who have been celebrated by MIFF audiences at previous editions of the festival, many of whom we look forward to welcoming back in person," MIFF executive director Jaie Laplante said in a statement.
Of course, if you're not a film buff, most of these titles won't have much meaning to you -- the buzz for these films has only just begun to infiltrate mainstream cultural sources (like, uh, this blog). The real news: the celebrities starring in these films, many of whom are fresh off some of the biggest films of the past year or two.
Hiddleston is known for playing Loki in The Avengers and Thor series. Other big names: Moonrise Kingdom's Tilda Swinton, Anna Karenina's Emily Watson, David Oyelowo of Lee Daniels' The Butler, Now You See Me's Jesse Eisenberg, and Judd Apatow film favorite Chris O'Dowd.
