Wynwood Charity Art Auction This Thursday to Benefit Miami Rescue Mission
As a grown-ass person living in an artistically advanced city, you should probably have a collection that includes more than Game of Thrones fan art and a Starry Night print that dates back to freshman year of college.

This Thursday's your chance to up your apartment's sophistication factor, all in the name of a good cause. A charity art auction to benefit Miami Rescue Mission is lined up in Wynwood, and they'll have some pretty sweet pieces available, thanks largely to the folks at Miami Free Art Fridays (FAF).
Pieces for auction will include works by Ramon Garcia, an artist and resident of the Miami Rescue Mission; Registered Artist, the dude who launched Miami's Free Art Fridays group (which now exceeds 3,800 members); and other artists involved in FAF.
The concept of Free Art Fridays originated in Australia, but RA launched the local arm of the international group about a year and a half ago. So what do they do, exactly?
"It's kind of like an art scavenger hunt. An Easter egg hunt but with art," RA says.
Every Friday (and sometimes Saturdays), participating artists drop pieces around town -- anything from poetry to sculpture to photography. Then they leave clues or photos in the Facebook group to help lead followers to the art's location.
Multiple artists from the group donated works to the auction. You can check out a lot of it via the event page on Facebook.
RA's donation is a piece entitled I see you, you smiled because you knew I fell in love. It depicts two colorful, cartoon-esque colorful lovers, spray painted on wood. He lives near the mission, and is stoked to be able to support the community cause.

"It's kind of nice to be able to help out the neighborhood I live in," RA says.
Attendees will get to dig into free appetizers (courtesy of SuViche); hear Garcia speak about his journey as an artist and Rescue Mission resident; listen to poetry; and (hopefully) head home with some new art. The event is a joint effort by the aforementioned orgs, plus Borrowed Sugar Events.
The event runs Thursday, June 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at SuViche, 2751 N. Miami Ave. It's free and open to the general public. RSVPs to Rachel Weiss at 305-572-2001 are appreciated.
