Luxury South Florida Condo Costa Hollywood Will Open With Its Own Fashion Line
Take one swanky beachfront resort, and add a handful of artisinal, hand-dyed bikinis. What do you get? A one-of-a-kind swimwear collection, of course.
The Costa Hollywood, set to open this summer with a swimwear line designed by Indie Soul.
That's right: One Hollywood beach resort is one-upping the recent trend in real estate-owned art by debuting its very own line of bikinis and beachwear "inspired" by the property.
This September, Miami-based brand Indie Soul -- responsible for dressing model hotties like Marloes Horst and Irina Shayk for the 50th anniversary issue of Sports Illustrated -- will debut its exclusive, limited edition collection, using real estate as its muse instead of some leggy, pore-less models. The brand has partnered up with Hollywood's new luxury condo-resort, Costa Hollywood.
The resort, designed by Hamed Rodriguez, will comprise 307 "smart units" in the form of pimped-out studios, and one- and two- bedroom layouts that will overlook either the Atlantic coast or the Intracoastal Waterway.
With so much water around, Costa reps say, a swimwear line was the perfect fit. But creative director of Indie Soul, Tim Gorgol, says "the development's architecture, bold color palette, and the luxury lifestyle that [the resort] represents" is what inspired him the most.
"I was inspired by the subtle letter 'H' in the building façade, which we incorporated into both designs, and of course the beautiful red hue featured throughout the project, the beach furniture and on the umbrellas," says Gorgol of his collection of hand-dyed pieces, constructed by Peruvian, Chinese, Indian, and Colombian artisans - the first swim line to employ this process.
Using art to sell real estate is nothing new in South Florida; works by Jeff Koons and Phillipe Starck are among the selling points at area condo and hotel properties. So could the Costa's venture into fashion, art's more sartorial cousin, be the spark of a new real estate trend? Who knows; dressing to complement your surroundings could be the must-do look for next summer's elite. Or it could be seen as tacky to show up to the pool wearing the same thing as the resort you're inhabiting.
The brand is due to hit the shelves of Indie Soul's flagship store in Mary Brickell
Village, its online boutique, and of course, within the chic confines of Costa Hollywood, which is expected to open its doors Summer 2015.
