Seeing Pink

Unlike anything in the multi-billion dollar porn industry, the only hardcore porn broadcast studio in the world is located -- where else? -- in Miami. In its nondescript warehouse, Pink TV, the brainchild of a 27-year-old entrepreneur named Jan Verleur, has been shooting original programming (e.g., a reality series called "The Brothel" a XXX news program called "The Fuckin' News" and a game show called "Match that Snatch") for the last three years.

The multi-million dollar project has been kept under a secretive lid... until now.

This isn't run-of-the mill porn. Budgets average between $250,000 and $500,000 for a 12-program season, producers from HBO, Telemundo and other networks are on staff and they actually bring in acting coaches from time to time. Loaded with microphones and cameras, the warehouse is a voyeur's dream. Pink TV will be, they say, a 24/7 "HBO of porn."

Verleur is ambitious. He plans to launch a U.S. satellite cable channel — on the Dish Network — by 2007 or 2008. Pink TV is already available in Europe, under another name, to 7 million homes.
