I Don't Know Either

Categories: News

Hoping to avoid the crowds, I woke up very early this morning and ran to my polling place before breakfast. Turned out there was no reason for me to have lost the meal, or the sleep. Upon arriving at Arvida Middle School in Kendall, I didn't see the usual line of voters. The hallways were empty. I walked straight up to the pleasant lady checking IDs and waited 30 seconds for a machine. In the background I heard a man jokingly ask the poll workers whether they expected to be busy today, to which one responded, "I don't know."

I guess that will be my answer next time a nonvoter asks me what is wrong with the government in this country, "Gee, I don't know." Karen Figueiredo
