They're Gay!

While I prefer to hunker down on a Friday night with a good book or a classic John Hughes film from the Eighties, the sixteen-year-old girl in me wanted to go meet a former boy band member and his really hot boyfriend. Yes, Lance "I'm Gay" Bass was at Social Miami at Sagamore on Friday night with his hunky beau, Reichen Lemhkuhl. (Come on! Lance was on, like, my most favorite People magazine cover of all time; I needed to document this historic moment myself.)

The boys were in town to promote Reichen's new book, Here's What We'll Say: Growing Up, Coming Out, and the U.S. Air Force Academy, about the travesty of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy of the United States military. When asked what prompted him to write the book, the U.S. Air Force Academy graduate replied, "The book started because I had to get things off of my chest.... And now we've sold 9000 copies in the first week! It's becoming a best seller."

So, how did you feel about the whole "I'm gay" thing? Aren't you glad that you two can finally be yourselves?

"It is such a relief, and I am so proud of him," Reichen said as he grabbed Lance's shoulder and gave it a squeeze. "All of these blogs and Internet sites are trying to take credit, but Lance did it all on his own."

Reichen, who won the Amazing Race with his then-"husband," Chip Arndt, was later spotted posing for photos with both Lance and Chip. I'm so glad to see that everyone can get along.

After a few glasses of champagne, I found myself rubbing elbows -- literally -- with Lance, so I had to do it. Lance, I know that Justin thinks that he brought SexyBack, but I think you really did. "Well," he said with a hearty laugh. "I brought a different kind of sexy back." Then he put his hands in the air and did a little hip wiggle. "I love how people are now saying that they are being 'Lanced,' like, did you hear about Doogie Howser?" Oh, yes, I did hear that the doctor was out. Even if you never make it to space, Lance, I still think you are out of this world.

P.S. The best quote of the night came when the forever-tan-philanthropist-on-the-town, Merle Weiss caught up with Beau Beasley next to the bar. "Hi!" shrieked Beau. "Higher," cooed Merle. Priceless. -Lyssa Oberkreser
