Great art comes from great tension. Russel is also known for having tantrums on the set to get some intensity from his actors. They are both pro's and friends and personally i LOVE this film. Like she said, people are human, we are all human.

I've never been fond of Tomlin, but I love a good scream session between "professionals." It hits on the "look at me, love me, cater to me," attitude that is Hollywood. He worked on that piece of shit for three years? Who's the cunt? Tomlin's a bitch but fuck, he asked alot from her for the trash that came out of that film.

I've also worked with Lily Tomlin, twice, and she was nothing but gracious, patient, and easy-going. In my own work life, depending on what was happening at each given moment (I'm a writer), I could be foul-mouthed and ill-tempered or, have gotten enough sleep, and eaten well, and be completely sane, patient, tactful. And I'm 30. She's Sixy-f**king seven. Give her a break.

The article is incorrect, that was NOT a guerrilla video. If you look closely at the scene on the set, you can clearly see the 'framing marks' that the camera operator uses to frame the scene. This means that the video was attached to the film camera and was part of the production. It is sometimes called video assist so that they can see what they hve shot without having to wait for film to be developed (aka dailies).

I suspect that Russell had been giving the crew a hard time as well and they decided to give him a taste of his own action.

I am a huge Lily fan. Loved the woman since I was in 5th grade doing Edith Ann and Ernestine immitations for talent shows. This woman could do nothing to diminish my respect for her as a comedian, actress, and writer. The dirty language and seeming unprofessionalism did disappoint me because I put the stars I love on a pedestal. I still love her and feel her explanation is an honest one. Guess I'll just shrug and put her back up on that pedestal.

I'm rolling my eyes. It's amazing how people who admire celebrities are so willing to forgive or explain away obviously poor and unprofessional behavior. This is why the rest of the country chafes over "Hollywood values." Lily's too rich to care but it's hard to respect that display. I won't put Lily Tomlin or any star on a pedestal, because I can't give props when people act trashy.

So what if sparks flew on the set between 'professionals'. People lose their cool all the time in high-pressure work environments. It doesn't equate to being trashy. You just get over it, laugh it off and move on. It's better to work in an environment where you can be yourself, vs some stuffy job where you have to pretend that everything's okay all the time.

tomlin may have snapped, but i think a good director will direct people towards common goals; like the content of the movie (existentialism) and towards getting the job done. no job finds a quick end by yelling and belittling men or women doing the work.
