Orange Bowl's Fate Riles Facebookers
But some of the group's 394 members seemed less dedicated to the mission. "The Orange Bowl is by far the worst stadium in contemporary major college sports," posted a student from Florida State University. "How stupid do you have to be to continue to sell out of water bottles during day games? It should have been condemned many, many years ago. Attempting to 'save it' is a futile, foolish gesture."
Others soon joined this chorus of negativity. "I joined this group just to say that I hope they burn this stadium, and every joyful memory that you people have of what once was a great program, to the ground," wrote a student from Yale. "Damn, the tears of Hurricane fans are like sweet, sweet honey to me."
Naturally these infiltrators prompted rabid responses from loyal UM Orange Bowl advocates. "Why is this group full of a bunch of Yale slang-blade motherfuckers?" complained one.
Another was more blunt: "THE OB STANDS FOR...A SCHOOL THAT HAS NOT BEEN AROUND AS LONG AS FSU OR YALE AND HAS 5 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS! UNTIL GWU, FSU, OR YALE, OR ANYBODY CAN TOUCH THAT NUMBER I WILL PERSONALLY COME TO YOUR SCHOOL AND SHIT ON YOUR STADIUM. YOU DON'T LIKE THE OB LEAVE THE GROUP!
"Screw the city of Miami and their corrupt politicians," concluded a sympathetic grad student at Tulane. "This is a disgrace and a tragedy." --Emily Witt
