South Florida-based Din “Dinyero” Thomas returns to the octagon Wednesday to do battle against Kenny Florian in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Fight Night Live main event.

30-year-old Thomas (23-7-0) -- who was the subject of a New Times cover story ("Cage Rage") this past February -- is riding a three-fight winning streak since departing The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Season 4 and returning to the 155-pound division. His last defeat was this past May.

Now the American Top Team veteran will face off against 31-year-old Kenny Florian (9-3-0) in Las Vegas. Florian, who recently returned from a tour of the Middle East where he met with U.S. troops, dispatched of Alvin Robinson during round one of his most recent bout.

It’s a battle that could upset the entire 155-ppound division; the winner will likely be a top contender for a title shot. Current UFC Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk tested positive for an anabolic steroid agent known as “nandrolone” after his successful unanimous decision title defense against Hermes Franca. Sherk will appear before the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) on October 31 to plead his case.

UFC Fight Night Live will be broadcast live on Spike TV beginning at 9:00 p.m.
If that doesn’t do it, catch Chuck “Iceman” Liddell this Saturday on PPV, when he takes on Keith “Dean of Mean” Jardine at 10:00 p.m. --Joanne Green
