Give Peace a Dance

An estimated one million people spanning 350 locations and 60 nations will unite Saturday for what has been dubbed the world’s largest synchronized music and dance festival for peace.
So grab something tie-dye, perhaps a chemically enhanced cigarette or two, and get ready to make up for all those peace parties you might have missed out on in the Sixties.

Earthdance, as it’s called, began in London in 1997. Over the past decade, the event has evolved into a mega global gathering designed to foster peace, harmony, and awareness about ecological responsibility. The party in Miami kicks off at 2:00 p.m. and is set to host fourteen live bands -- including the “town troubadour” Jesse Jackson -- 20 DJ’s, performance artists -- including non other than Budakon master Cameron Shayne -- cultural dance troupes, yogis, and even an eco-fashion show. The shows will be staged simultaneously through the wee hours on a series of specially erected stages at Arena 57 Studios (5701 NE 2nd Avenue).

And at 7:00 p.m. attendees will be invited to do their part for peace and participate in a Global prayer for peace -- or Global OM as they are calling it “
