The Party Crasher - Project Runway's Uli in SoBe
Life as a loser does go on. Runner-up of Project Runway Season 3, Uli Herzner dined at new SoBe hotspot, ISHQ on Ocean Drive Monday night. The German- American designer came clad in a low-key ensemble with little to no makeup, sporting the “au naturale” look. The eclectic designer tasted an assortment of small plates including kebabs, pakoras and samosas. Uli wore a sedated look and tossed a few back, indulging in ISHQ’s signature cocktail, The Samsara (an Indian play on sangria), a blend of brandy, wine and juice. Joined by a local no-name hottie, Uli and her gal pal fused into the scene, preferring to keep to themselves. Arriving early for the 9 p.m. seating, Uli requested to be seated and served immediately, leading some to believe she was too busy to mix and mingle with others attending the tasting. Since her stint on Project Runway¸ the designer, infamous for loud prints and silhouettes, is now asking obnoxious prices for her pieces in Miami boutiques. The once-affordable designer has yet to make much noise since her return to the Beach. Could Uli have something up her sleeve for Miami Fashion Week? We’ll just have to wait and see, but until then, she should think about laying off the Paxil and paste on a smile so the fashion world doesn’t get the wrong idea. -- Tracy Block
