Trina Takes a Turn at Rap Redemption

You may think that Hip Hop music is nothing more than braggadocious, violent, oversexed anthems created by morally indifferent artists – and judging by the press given to DUI convictions and bullet wound counts, we don’t blame you. But the truth is a lot of rap artists helm charities that provide big bucks to great causes. Nelly, Mr. Use-her-ass-to-swipe-a-credit-card, helps children born with developmental disabilites with his 4sho4Kids organization; and when 50 Cent isn’t too busy rapping about getting shot he’s raising money for his G-Unity Foundation.

Our Miami rap stars are no strangers to the charity hustle. Trina, the Diamond Princess has the Diamond Doll Foundation, an organization whose aim is to empower, inspire and educate young inner city girls. On Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Trina will be at the Checkers in Liberty City (8080 NW 7th Ave.) signing autographs, taking pictures, and raffling off an opportunity for two deserving kids to go on a shopping spree with her. We suggest that you order up a few of Checkers’ super-greasy burgers after you meet Tina because from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. the most eccentric NBA star ever, Dennis Rodman, will be on hand to sign your bag of fries, take pictures, and give away some b-ball tickets. --Raina McLeod
