It's D-Day at the Miami Herald and 42 will exit the newspaper. One motherin' newsman is on this list -- Phil Long, who covered hurricanes forever and was a tech guy before tech guys existed. Phil hustled at the Herald like no one I've ever known.
Among the younger departures that suck: Jasmine Kripilani -- whose departure was protested on a petition signed by more than 65 people. Also to go are Gail Meadows, Hamal Hamaludin, Donna Natale, and Bob Steinback ( who I hear wrote a rather bitter good-bye). Editor John Voskuhl is headed to Bloomberg news.
Bob Norman's blog, the Daily Pulp, has City editor Manny Garcia's list and tribute to the departed.
Er, nobody calls him bob. His name is Robert. Yes, he wrote a somewhat bitter email to say goodbye, but it wasn't totally negative.
