The First Google Phone Is Unvieled

Categories: Flotsam
Today, T-Mobile announced it would be offering the first phone that runs Google's mobile software. Dubbed the T-Mobile G1, it marks the search giant's first foray into connecting its name with a cell phone, and some hope it could prove strong competition for Apple's iPhone.

We'll let the more qualified nerds at Gizmodo and Engadget break down the tech-y specifics for you, but the early consensus is that the phone will be most beneficial to consumers who already use Google services like GMail and Google Maps.

The phone will retail for $179 with a two year contract. Miami will be one of 21 cities that will be able to get their hands on its full power using T-Mobile's new G3 network when it debuts in stores October 22nd.
