Photos: Fashion Week Miami Beach, Day 1
ZOMG!!! Fashion Week is here! Er, not New York Fashion Week. And, no not LA Fashion Week. We are talking about the bastard child of Fashion Weeks in the United States, Funkshion's Fashion Week Miami Beach. Last night, Vanidades, Latin America's perennial women's magazine, kick off the whole thang with its Magia De La Moda event at Miami Beach Botanical Garden, while Bejeweled Swimwear took over The Setai's courtyard.
Don't get us wrong, we love what Funkshion is doing, even if it's on a much smaller scale than New York or Los Angeles, but we wish more people and local designers would invest in putting on fashion events around the same week, even if they aren't attached to Funkshion. Miami's anemic number of runway shows and events during the week definitely don't do the city justice. But for now, we can only dream.
