That Guy Who 'Lost' Florida in 2000 Coming Back For Obama

Let's hope Al Gore doesn't believe in history repeating itself.

For the first time this election season, the former Democratic nominee for president and recent Nobel Prize Winner is hitting the trail for Obama. And he's heading -- where else -- for Palm Beach and Broward Counties, the epicenters of the massive recount that ended up costing Gore the 2000 election by 500 votes.

Gore is scheduled to give speeches in West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale on Friday.

The Obama campaign isn't exactly dancing around Gore's sordid past with South Florida elections.

“Nobody knows better that every single vote counts – especially in Florida – than Vice President Al Gore, who will be encouraging Florida voters to early vote in record numbers so no amount of chads, butterflies or undervotes can stand between Floridians and the change we need,” Obama campaign’s Florida state director, Steve Schale, said in a statement to the New York Times.

The West Palm Beach rally starts at noon at the Palm Beach Convention Center. No details just yet on the Ft. Lauderdale event.
