Former FBI Agent Would Like Everyone to Forget About His Murder Conviction

Categories: News
Former FBI agent John Connolly was convicted of second-degree murder in a Miami courtroom last month, and that was the last we thought we'd heard of him. Apparently not, because his lawyers have filed a legal brief asking for the conviction to be thrown out, according to the Boston Globe. His lawyers are arguing there's a four-year statute of limitations on second-degree murder, unless it's committed with a firearm. Since Connolly didn't actually commit the murder, and hence didn't possess the firearm, they think they should be able to get the charges dropped. As the charges stand now, Connolly could face 30 years to life.

As for the mobster who actually pulled the trigger: He already served his time, was released from prison last year, and apparently just signed a movie deal! Of course, Connolly's saga already served as the inspiration for Scorsese's The Departed.
