Miami Owned Cruise Ship Outruns Pirates

Pirates attack cruise ship.jpgThe MS Nautica, a big floating luxury palace owned by Miami-based Oceania Cruises, found itself in a real life pirate shoot out Saturday in the Gulf of Aden between the coasts of Somali and Yemen. Two pirate skiffs shot 8 rounds at the ship, but the luxury liner was able to out run the real life Jack Sparrows. None of the 1,080 people on board were harmed.

The incident was the latest in a string of attacks by Somali pirates. They've hijacked over 40 ships this year, and are currently holding 15 ships and their crews.

The MS Nautica is currently registered in the Marshall Islands, and regularly tours the Mediterranean.
