Adrienne Arsht is Very Generous

Adrienne Arsht makes her debut this year on the The Chronicle of Philanthropy's top 50 American philanthropists, thanks largely to her donation last year of $30 million to the downtown performing arts center that now bears her name. In total, Arsht donated $43.3 million in 2008, placing her at number 39. Blair House, the University of Miami, American Ballet Theatre, Best Buddies, the United Way of Greater Miami, The Metropolitan Opera, and the Cuban National Council were other organizations that benefited from her generosity.

Infamous hotel tyrant, Leonna Hemsley took the top spot by bequeathing $5.2 billion in her will.
