Bascom Palmer's Shocking Paintball Eye Injury Report
In the February issue of the American Journal of Ophthalmology Dr. Kyle Alliman reviews all 36 cases of paintball eye injuries the Institute has dealt with from 1988-2006 and found that paintball related injuries can often cause permanent damage to the eye. In fact, in 22% of the cases removal of the eyeball was required. 81% of cases required some sort of surgery.
The best, and most rediuclously obvious, way to avoid injury is to wear goggles. It prevents 97% of injuries. [via CBC]
