Florida Congressman Wants to Move Gitmo to Alcatraz
What do we do with the 245 guys left in Gitmo? Especially the truly dangerous ones, who we won't be sending to Europe or their home countries?
Leave it to a Florida politician to come up with the bat-shit craziest idea yet. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, a Republican from Pinellas County, proposed yesterday in all apparent seriousness that we ship 'em all to Alcatraz.
Sounds cool right? There's only a couple small little problems with the idea, like the fact that Alcatraz hasn't actually been a prison since 1963. Or that Nicholas Cage and Sean Connery have already demonstrated that -- with a little elbow grease and a thick Scottish accent -- you can definitely break people out of The Rock.
And he has the backing of Missouri Sen. Kit Bond. Bond may have pointed to the true motivation behind the idea, however, telling CQ, "Let our good friends in San Francisco deal with these deadly combatants."
Hah! Take that Nancy Pelosi!
