Florida Probably Doesn't Want New Hampshire's Leftovers

Considering most runners in the 2010 Senate race haven't held a position higher than congressman, it might behoove anyone with a stronger resumé to think about entering the fray, and what better job to have in your past when seeking a Senate seat than senator?

Reportedly, former New Hampshire Sen. Bob Smith, who now lives in Sarasota, is at least thinking about throwing in his name. But the Buzz makes a good point in that "winning a statewide election in New Hampshire is akin to winning a countywide election in Hillsborough County."

Smith also has quite a bizarre electoral history. He jumped into the 2000 Republican primary and well, yeah, that didn't work out. He thought about running with the U.S. Taxpayers Party, but then decided to run as an Independent for president. Again, that didn't work out too well. In 2002, he lost his Senate seat by losing the Republican primary, moved to Florida, and thought about running for state Senate here in 2004. Yep, didn't work. Some folks thought he'd try to get the 2008 presidential nomination of the Constitution Party (formerly the U.S. Taxpayers) but, sadly, not even that worked out.

With Smith, it seems, small chances of winning haven't stopped him before.
